I’ve put some new work up in my type/logo and design dept’s. Have a peek and see what you think. I’ve been pretty slack with the blog updates lately. Terribly sorry but i think running a magazine, 3 websites and a freelance design biz is getting the hold of me a little. Anyone like to be my intern?? I will be putting some new UK adventure photos online soon so stay tuned for those. Easy peasy!

Lately i’ve been wanting to create a new look to my branding and get rid of the old and in with the new. I feel the look and feel of this website and my ‘brand’ to be the timba of the past and not the present or future. So, i decided to hit the drawing board and come up with a new feel. As you know, i’m right into retro/kitsch inspired graphics and shit so i’ve settled on this super neat ‘creative chef’ character mark and matching logotype. I’ve been having some fun cutting these out of lino and rubber to create a series of stamps which i’m going to use to press my own business cards and gift bags. Here are some process shots i took recently to give you a look-see. Stay tuned for the finished product soon.

On my trip last week back to hometown Melbourne i was lucky enough to be in town to see my ignore me billboard go up in the air and be plonked up top of a bulding. It was huge at a whopping 12m x 6m or something big like that. I’ve never seen my work so large before. It was quite a surreal moment and to celebrate my lovely friends Sarah, Bec and photographer extraordinaire Nicole Reed went down to take some snaps. Donuts and all! Silly me!

My new poster design ‘the vampire rollerbabes’ was featured in a group exhibition last night in Bristol (UK) by the good folks at Anyforty featuring original artworks by some of my favourite designers including Matt Taylor, 123klan and ilk. I’ve been really getting into the vibe of lo-fidelity faux movie posters lately. I’ve always been a huge fan of vintage cinema posters from the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s so look out for more of these from the right hand of Timba.

In between working riduculous crazy hours (and i mean ridiculous) finishing off pages for the extremeley overdue edition 7 of Wooden Toy i somehow managed to finish this screenprint poster for the-HIFF or the Henley International Film Festival. The advertising agency Mother in London commissioned myself and 2 other lucky sods to interpret a poster loosely based on ‘film’ as the inspiration for the first ever HIFF fest. I took a page out of 1960, early 1970 horror film posters and came up with this beauty. The colours were a challenge. Poos, wees and black stuff. Haha! If you don’t know, Henley is famous for its rowing reggatas hence my damsel in distress holding an oar. Enjoy! Oh yeah, and check out the film festival if you’re in London town. There are some really great docos showing. (And buy a poster while you’re at it) wink wink! www.the-hiff.co.uk

The good folk at Computer Arts Projects recently covered a feature on my Lyrics and Type Verse 2 project as a good idea for their new typography issue which just hit the shelves. I just received my copies in the post and about to sit back and have a good ole read. Make sure to go out and buy a copy. Not only does it feature the L&T project but a nifty bag of typographic assortments including features on Norman Hayes form Waste (Wooden Toy 7 packaging artist), my good friends Michael and Eva from Toko in sydney (a nice surprise) and a whole lotta free fonts and tutorials. Check it out online at www.computerarts.co.uk
